Sometimes I put my readers first when it comes to interviews….but sometimes, I do them just for ME. This one happens to be the latter. :) Prima was actually one of my first follows when I entered the Twitter world….in all actuality, I was trying to stay up to date on her brother in law and little Miss Maynard. Turns out they didn’t quite work out, my world was crushed, BUT I began to discover what a gem Prima was! She is so sweet, sincere, grateful and does it all with such grace. I love that she’s a real woman living real life….living with the same struggles we all have.

Since her Capetown visit on The Bachelor…..Prima’s been busy raising her ADORABLE children, running tons of half marathons, taking care of her hottie husband and setting her sites high on reinventing herself through a new career. I sincerely hope that y’all enjoy this interview as much as I did! Thank you so much Prima for taking time to answer a few of my questions on your fave beauty products and must haves. I hope y’all enjoy! :)

What are your everyday cheapies, products that we can buy at the drugstore that you use on a frequent basis?

Gold Bond Intensive Healing Hand Cream – As a mom of two little kids, I’m constantly washing my hands to avoid germs.  This is the best lotion to throw in your purse and apply after washing your hands. It’s not oily at all and has a pleasant simple smell.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask- I can only find this cheapie at Walgreens but I’ve been using this since college years.  I don’t use it for a mask.  I just apply it at night to blemishes that have flared up and by morning they are much better.  It’s a bright green color and my kids always ask “Mommy why do you have toothpaste on your chin?”

Bert’s Bees Lip Shimmer – I have three of these I carry around with me.  I love the lightness of the product on your lips so you don’t look overdone and it soothes your lips at the same time.  Great for the gym or just running errands, especially in the colder months.  Fig is my favorite color. It has a minty smell that I like.

What are your go to hair products and styling secrets?

I use Redken shampoo and conditioner on my hair and sometimes I use Biolage.  But I’m currently looking for something new to freshen up my hair after all the highlights, swimming and sun damage from last summer.

What 5 beauty products are in your handbag right now?

Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder, Clinique mascara, Clinique eye shadow, Clinique lipstick, Are you seeing a pattern here? :-) And a small Ralph Lauren Romance perfume

What are some beauty/make up splurges that you know are expensive but SO worth it?

I splurge on all my Clinique make-up.  I’ve been using Clinique since high school and I just never switched to anything else because I love the matte finish.  Also, the eye shadow comes in the best shade combinations.  Another splurge is getting a really good facial . Its such a self-indulgence but so worth it when your skin feels refreshed and silky smooth. Wes and I usually get facials together on vacations as a treat to ourselves.   (yes, my manly man loves being pampered!)

What’s your fave new beauty product/hair discovery?

My newest discovery is my 1 1/2 inch curling iron.  It gives my hair that wavy look without it being such obvious curls.  The trick is to not pull the curling iron all the way to the bottom of your hair.  Start at the top part of the strand and wrap the hair around.  That way your ends don’t get the hottest part causing the most damage to your oldest hair.  (I learned this from my awesome hair stylist!)

What make up products do you use for your everyday look?

Concealer is a must for every day for this tired mama! I never know when I’ll have a sleepless night whether it’s due to my 4 year old daughter waking up from a nightmare and needing some extra cuddling, or laying awake going through my mental checklists, calendars, grocery lists, etc or a my 3 year old son deciding THAT day is going to start at 4:45am. (coffee please!) So I have to use concealer under my eyes to hide the dark circles. I rarely use foundation, it’s just too heavy for my skin so I use my Clinique Stay Beige Pressed Powder. I go cheap on blush and use Ulta’s Mineral Blush – Tiger Lily.  It comes in a small round container so it’s easy to throw in your make-up bag in your purse.  I use Clinique lipstick – color Tender Heart.  For eye shadows I have green eyes so I use plums most of the time to compliment them and sometimes shimmery golds and browns.

What’s your signature scent?

I use lots of different kinds of perfumes because I like to change it up every day.  But when it’s date night with my hubby I always use Burberry, he loves it on me.

Any skincare products that you swear by?

I use Murad skincare products.  It helps keep my breakouts under control and has anti-aging qualities.

You’re a mom of two like me, any tips or short cuts on applying makeup on the go?

You mean there’s a different way to apply make-up other than “on the go?!” LOL! Actually, can’t believe I’m admitting this, but I like to apply my eye make-up in the car in my driveway.  I load the kids into their carseats, put on their favorite music and I can apply my eye makeup without requests or distractions.  And it’s so easy with the vanity mirror on the sun visor because its right in front of you so you can pay attention to detail.  Also, sunlight is the best way to make sure you’re not putting on too much eye make-up. But to me, when you’re really on the go, you only need 3 things- concealer under the eyes, light mascara and some lip shimmer.  That will give you a nice “awake” look when you don’t have time for all the fuss.

Are you an in-store clothes shopper or online shopper? What are some of your fave shopping spots?

When I’m shopping for clothes for myself I’m an in-store shopper.  I’ve been disappointed too many times by clothes looking different than they did online.

My favorite shopping spots are Nordstrom Rack, Bond- a local Austin boutique, and my favorite spot for gym clothes is Lululemon.

Stella & Dot is an amazing line, how did you get started? Any advice for women who are interested in becoming a consultant, like yourself?

I learned about Stella & Dot from a good friend of mine from my Mom’s Group (our kids have had weekly playdates since they were 6 months old!) She was really enjoying her new venture and felt that I would love it too.  Her enthusiasm was contagious!  It’s a GREAT way for stay-at-home mamas to earn some extra income to help with swim lessons, dance lessons, family vacations, etc.  It’s socializing with other women in a fun environment and its a product that is so easy to fall in love with its’ trendiness, beauty and quality.  You can start as a stylist with as low as a $199 investment which you easily earn back after just one trunk show. You can set your own hours and work as much or as little as you want.  And you get to wear your investment ALL the time! The jewelry is so gorgeous.  If anyone is interested they can message me for more information.

I actually started twitter to keep up with Brad and Emily’s relationship after the show, which lead me to you, and was disappointed that things didn’t work. But I think I speak for all women in wondering how Brad is doing now? Is he on the market? ;)

Brad is doing well, just focusing on his career.  As far as I know, he is still “on the market!”

So often we talk about how life impacts the lead of the Bachelor/Bachelorette, but were you impacted at all? I always wonder how long it really takes life to return back to normal once you hit the reality tv circuit.  Do you still watch the show?

I feel that anyone like Brad or Emily, starring on a reality tv show are definitely impacted by the unexpected amount of fame and attention, giving up things that are normally kept private and personal.  However, for the small portion that I was involved in, I would have to say I was only impacted in positive ways.  I was able to travel to South Africa, a trip I never dreamed of being able to take in my life.  It was such a beautiful place.  The whole time we were in Capetown, I just kept picturing the maps, globes and puzzles I’d had as a child and trying to comprehend that I was at the bottom of that big continent. To this little girl, Africa wasn’t anywhere I’d ever get to travel to, but rather a puzzle piece on a map that I’d learned in school. The people there were so friendly, kind and extremely interesting.  There was so much history there.  And the beauty of the vast ocean waves crashing on the shores next to mountains was breath-taking. I do have to say, it was difficult to be away from my then 1 year old and 2 year old babies for ten days and I missed them terribly, causing me to be homesick. But all in all it was an experience that I greatly thank the show for giving to me.  I hoped like most that the fairy tale ending would happen for Brad and Emily and was sad when it didn’t. These days, I watch the show every once in a while but I have to admit, I’m not a die-hard fan.  It’s hard for this mama to keep up with any shows.  By the time the kids are in bed, I’m exhausted and trying to plan for the next day.

What’s next for Prima?

Oh my goodness, who knows?!?!  My goal I set a few months ago was to go back to work full-time next fall when my daughter, Lyla Kate, starts Kindergarten.  Before kids, I worked for 9 years in the apartment management industry and loved it.  After I had Lyla Kate, I became a stay-at-home mom and I was so thankful to be able to do that.  But I believe the time has come for this mama to return to work.  I love working with a team, building something special, reaching goals and helping others.  Some rewards you just can’t get from being home with kids. So the itch to go back to work crept up on me.  Stella & Dot was a natural choice for me to begin working now without giving up my time with the kids.  I also recently starting working part-time at a baby/children’s boutique in my neighborhood.  It is the funnest job, helping customers pick out adorable outfits and gifts for baby showers, special birthdays or just to deck their kids out in the most unique and precious clothing and shoes, oh and of course hair bows!  I would love to make Stella & Dot a full-time job by next year, so that’s my newest goal.  I also have a personal goal to complete a marathon next year. I was able to complete 3 half-marathons this year and loved it. But training takes up so much time so I’m taking a break from that for a while. I’m also getting more involved with my church. I have a wonderful community of people at church that are helping me on my journey with God. I am so blessed.

I met Brittany over the summer because my neighbor hosted a Stella and Dot Show. I LOVE Stella and Dot jewelry. It’s always on trend, the quality is amazing, and it’s reasonably priced. I mean I could go on and on about the line because it’s just so gorgeous.

But back to Brittany! :) We chatted for a while after the show ended [I always seem to be that "girl" who doesn't know when to leave] and I just knew I wanted to know HER beauty secrets and must haves! She’s such a sweetheart and down to earth. Not to mention gorgeous, a natural beauty! Thank you for the Interview Brittany, it was such a pleasure! :)

What are your everyday cheapies, products that we can buy at the drugstore that you use on a frequent basis?

I will admit, I am kind of a snob when it comes to beauty products and until just recently I didn’t really use drugstore products, especially when it came to makeup and skincare. But since my husband and I bought our first home and have started to think about a family, etc…that means trimming our budget and so I have started to experiment with different, less expensive options a bit more.

My absolute favorite mascara that I recently discovered is L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara and since discovering it, I can’t believe I have been wasting $$$ on all those expensive mascaras all these years. L’Oreal makes my lashes super full and long and I feel like it lasts longer than the expensive brands.

I also started using Olay Total Effects Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser a few months ago at the suggestion of an esthetician at a local spa and I LOVE it.  It foams up really well and makes my face feel super clean afterwards.  This will definitely become a staple in my skincare routine.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes in Night Calming and Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer are two drugstore products I have used for years.  The cleansing towelettes are super easy to use and even easily get rid of waterproof mascara.  I have super dry skin and therefore like to slather lotion on every morning and night.  Jergens smells great and doesn’t feel greasy and is the only thing that works for me, even in the thick of winter.

What are your go to hair products and styling secrets?

Ugh, if I could change one thing about myself, it would without a doubt be my hair.  It’s thick and wavy and hard to manage.  Thank the lord for the invention of flat irons, I really don’t know what I did before I owned one.

My favorite shampoo and conditioner is the Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner.  This is the only shampoo and conditioner that I have found that can really make a difference in my hair and help smooth it out….plus its good for color treated hair and its sulfate free so it doesn’t dry it out as fast.

I am also a huge fan of MoroccanOil Frizz control and MoroccanOil Treatment.  I use the treatment before I blow dry and the frizz control after my hair is styled and both help give me that smooth, sleek look I love.

Although I never really believed that expensive blow dryers were different, I recently purchased one on sale at my hair salon and let me tell you…they are totally worth it.  I use the FHI Nano Weight Pro 1900 and it has cut my drying time in half and my hair is much smoother when I am finished drying then it used to be.  It was around $100 (hubby was not happy about this purchase) but totally worth the investment.  I also use an FHI flat iron which I seriously can’t live without.  If I could only take 3 items with me to a deserted island, my flat iron would for sure be one of them.

For the hot summers here in Atlanta, I do wear my hair natural a lot (it’s naturally wavy) as it’s just not worth the effort to style it because as soon as I step into the humidity my hair goes crazy.  I really love Aveda’s Be Curly Style Prep.  It helps enhance my waves and define them, but without that crunchy look.

And last but not least, if I really want my hair to look fab for a special night out, I head to DryBar in Buckhead for a blowout.   It’s only $35 and worth it if I really want to feel extra special :)

What are some beauty/make up splurges that you know are expensive but SO worth it?

Hands down my Cle de Peau concealer.  It’s $70 a tube but in my opinion worth every penny.  1 tube usually lasts me 9 months to a year and the coverage is amazing.  It covers up all my dark circles and is also really good for blemishes.  I find that a lot of concealers that have good coverage are too creamy or greasy and this formulation is just right.

I also love my Temptu airbrush system.  I don’t use it every day, but for a special night out or when I really need my makeup to last and look flawless, it’s great.

What’s your fave new beauty product/hair discovery?

I am really loving the makeup line I just discovered called (Pla) Beauty.  It is actually an Atlanta based line I discovered from another blog I follow called Witty + Pretty and is carried at Woo Cosmetics in Buckhead.  Not only do proceeds from the line go to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, so you can feel good about purchasing it, but the products rock. I was just at Woo recently checking out the line and actually got to meet Stephanie, who started the line.  She was so fun and her inspiration and story for starting (Pla) is pretty amazing!

My Clarisonic is also one of my new favorite beauty products.  I got it about 3 months ago and love it.  My skin feels so clean after using it and I feel like I can tell a huge difference in my skin and pores.  And it makes washing your face kind of fun!

What make up products do you use for your everyday look?

Face

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Mineral

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage – SC-3

Makeup Forever HD Foundation – Golden Honey

Cle de Peau Concealer – Ocher

(Pla) Beauty Bronzer – Cougar

(Pla) Beauty Blush – Pink a Boo & Pink Ribbon

Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil – Universal Shade

Laura Mercier Lip Glace – Baby Doll (for day)

(Pla) Beauty Lip Gloss  – Woo Me (to go from day to night)

WOW that is a lot of products…I swear it only takes me 10 minutes to put my makeup on in the morning!

What’s your signature scent(s)?

Chloe & Versace Bright Crystal.  I tend to wear the Versace more in spring/summer and Chloe in fall/winter.

Are you an in-store shopper or online shopper? What are some of your fave shopping spots?

I prefer to shop on-line and avoid the craziness of the mall, plus its fun waiting for the package to arrive on your door step.  For some of my staple places, where the fit never changes and I know my size I almost always order online (J. Crew, LOFT & Banana Republic).  I also like to shop online for designer pieces that I lust after at Bloomingdales, Neiman’s & Saks because you can almost always find them cheaper or they go on sale eventually. I usually shop Shopbop.com and Piperlime.com in situations like this.

If I am going to shop in person, my favorite place to shop is Nordstrom.  They have a good mix of high and low end pieces and the environment is just so pleasant.  That being said, I am trying really hard to shop less and become more of a bargain hunter, especially for trendier pieces.  My new rule is “if it’s not on sale, I can’t buy it”. One of my favorite places for tops and cute dresses is LOFT.  Their stuff is so well priced and fits me really well.  I also love scouring through the racks at Target and always find a lot of cute things there, especially in the summer.

The one thing I can’t give up and will probably always “invest” in is my Paige, Hudson and Seven jeans.  They are a bit more expensive but they fit me so well and usually last me a really long time, so to me it’s worth it.

Recently, you have been really committed to your fitness and health. What inspired you to take up running?

I have always wanted to run a marathon but never had the time to commit to training and mentally just thought it was something I could never do.  As my 30th birthday approaches, I wanted to do something that would be a big challenge (physically and mentally) for me so I decided to just go for it and sign up.  I have run one ½ marathon before but would certainly not consider myself a “runner” but thus far I am enjoying the training and the sense of accomplishment I get after a long run.  Hopefully it will pay off and I will be able to cross the finish line in January.

While I have enjoyed running lately I have also really gotten into attending group fitness classes around Atlanta. I like to mix in group fitness classes to keep things different and interesting and it really helps me stay motivated to work out.  I discovered a company called 10 Pack (http://10-pack-2.myshopify.com/) about 3 months ago, which allows you to “curate” your own card with some of the top fitness studios in the Atlanta area. If you have ever thought about trying Blast, Flywheel, Fast Twitch or wondered what they were like, 10 Pack is a great way to do it at a discounted rate.

How did you get started with Stella and Dot? How long have you been doing it? Any advice for women who are interested in becoming a consultant, like yourself?

I started with Stella & Dot back in November of 2010 after hosting a trunk show and have been doing it on and off for almost 2 years.  If there is one thing I am more obsessed with than beauty products its jewelry.  I just love how jewelry can completely change your look and outfit.  You can take the same jeans and same black shirt and create tons of different looks based on the accessories and jewelry you put with it and I just think that’s super fun.

What I love about Stella & Dot (besides the amazingly cute jewelry) is the flexibility it allows to its stylists and women looking to earn some extra money.  There are women in the company making six figures and women who just make a couple extra hundred dollars a month…the sky is the limit and you are in control of your own destiny.  You set your own hours, you decide how much you want to work and in turn you decide what you want to make of your business.

If you are interested in becoming a stylist with Stella & Dot, the once piece of advice I would give you is to just take the plunge and sign up.  You can get started for as little as $199 and as long as you have 3-4 people who are willing to host a show for you to start, you can get started and launch a successful business in no time.  The market for growth with Stella & Dot is still huge and to date our stylists have only styled 2% of women in the U.S.  If you are interested in becoming a stylist or learning more about Stella & Dot please feel free to contact me at brittanynicolerob@yahoo.com or you can visit www.stelladot.com/brittanynrobinson.  I would love to meet you for coffee to chat and tell you more.

If becoming a stylist isn’t your thing, but you love the jewelry you can host a trunkshow and earn hundreds of dollars in jewelry for FREE.  The new fall line is amazing and getting tons of press, with the holiday collection coming out October 1st.  Now is the perfect time to host a show as people start thinking about holiday shopping, parties, etc.  If you would like to host a show email me at brittanynicolerob@yahoo.com

What’s next for Brittany?

Right now I am just enjoying life with my husband and our 2 dogs and still trying to get settled in our house that we moved into last December (yes 9 months later we are still un- packing boxes).  I am super excited that fall is here, it’s my favorite time of year and trying to stay away from the mall :) Other than that, just staying busy with work, my training and hoping to expand the family in the coming year :)  Life is good and I often worry about and try to plan and be prepared for the future so for right now, just trying to focus on enjoying each day and live more in the moment!

…..AND What’s Next for My Readers???????

The opportunity to WIN this GORGEOUS Stella & Dot Windsor Tassel Necklace. Absolutely stunning for fall! Head over to my Facebook Page NOW for all the details on how to make it yours! Good Luck and thank y’all for reading! :) XOXO, Katie

Before I started blogging, I only read about 3 blogs….seriously. I went in blind as I started this up hill battle called blogging. But one of the best things about blogging, is discovering other GREAT blogs because naturally, you always think yours is amaze, right? Well, part of that discovery was finding Natalie’s blog, designer bags and dirty diapers. I was actually introduced to Natalie through my neighbor who has a blog, who reads a blog, who praises Natalie….I learned quickly that things get intertwined fast in the blog sphere!

As complicated as that sounds, I’m so glad I started reading designer bags and dirty diapers! It’s cute, informal, easy, and glamorous. Natalie is a sweet and spicy southern girl, like myself, with a love of fashion. Who also loves to cook. Who also has an ADORABLE son. Who is also a stay at home mom! I can’t say enough great things about her or her blog, you DEFINITELY need to check it out, add it to your blog roll, add it to you favorites, add it to your morning coffee rituals because it will be TOTALLY worth every minute you spend reading it! I promise.

Thank you Natalie for taking the time to answer a few questions about your beauty faves and must haves! It was such a pleasure. Enjoy! :)

What are your everyday cheapies, products that we can buy at the drugstore that you use on a frequent basis?

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara.  I have been using this for as along as I can remember and I swear by it.  I have one eye with blond eye lashes and one eye with black and this Mascara works magically to make them both look the same.  I use the blackest black color.

Cetaphil Moisturizer.  My mom got me hooked on this and I use it daily.  I use it as my full body lotion and on my face at night before I go to bed.  It is a steal at $12 for a huge jar that lasts forever!

St Ives Apricot Face Scrub.  I use this every other day in the shower with my Clarisonic.  It keeps my skin smooth and bright.

Eucerin Daily Moisturizing Lotion with SPF.  I use this lotion everyday before I put on my make-up.  It is not greasy and works really well.

What are your go to hair products and styling secrets?

Confession, I am super lazy about my hair and really don’t use any styling products.  My hair is super fine and long, so it gets quite tangly after I shower.   I use Cristophe Leave-in Conditioner to help manage the tangles.  I found it at CVS for like $8 and added bonus it smells amazing!  It is a great detangler.

As for Shampoo and Conditioner.  I just use the basic stuff.  I don’t believe in spending a lot of money on hair products.  I have found the cheap products work just as well for me.  Right now I am alternating between Pantene, Dove,  and John Frieda Blonde Shampoo/Conditioner.  I like to have a couple of options to switch between.

What 5 beauty products are in your handbag right now?

Laura Mercier Antique Pink Lipstick

Chanel Lipstick in #54

Kiehls Lip Balm

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in 2

My grandmother’s small compact mirror for beauty touch-ups

What are some beauty/make up splurges that you know are expensive but SO worth it?

Cle De Peau Concealer is hands down the best concealer I have ever used and trust me I have some bad under eye circles and have tried many concealers.  It is $75 but so worth it and lasts forever.  I have had my current one for almost a year now.

I also love LaMer Face Cream.  My Aunt used to work for LaMer so she would always give samples, now she no longer does and I sure do miss it.  The lotion smells amazing and really moisturzes well.

Clarisonic Mia.  I got this as a gift for Christmas two years ago and have been hooked ever since.  It is pricey but I use mine everyday.  I keep it in my shower and use it in the morning.   I swear it keeps my face looking brighter and tighter.

What’s your fave new beauty product/hair discovery?

I am pretty obsessed with the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow pallete.  It is filled with so many great neutral eye shadows.

I am also hooked on Chanel Vamp nail polish for the fall.  I have never bought expensive nail polish before and I am really loving it!

What make up products do you use for your everyday look?

My everyday look is pretty streamlined and basic.  I wear the same products everyday and then just add a darker lipstick and more eye liner for evening wear.

1) Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude
2) Cle de Peau Concealer
3) Sheisido Pressed Powder number 30
4) Nars Bronzer in Laguna
5) Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette
6) Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in #54 Boy
7) Make-Up Forever Waterproof Eyeliner in Black
8) Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black

What’s your signature scent(s)?

I alternate between a few different scents.  My current daily perfumes are usually either Chole or Vera Wang Bouquet.  I love a floral scent.  Hate anything that smells like vanilla or too sweet!

Any skincare products that you swear by?

I love Shiseido Face Wash.  It foams up really nicely and really gets all my make-up off.  I also love Cetaphil Moisturizer and Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream.  I am a big fan of the Neutrogena Make-up wipes.   I use them to get off my excess eyeliner and mascara at night.

I am a stay at home mom as well and sometimes it’s just hard as a woman to be so much to so many people AND still have something for yourself.  Do you have any advice for balancing it all?

Well it is hard to balance everything that is for sure.  I try to base my day around my family.  My son and husband are always my first priorities but it is important for me to have alone time too for my sanity! I get up a little earlier most mornings just so I have time to workout by myself. This helps me clear me head for the rest of the day.  I also always make a point to sit down and enjoy my lunch while my son naps.  It means most days I don’t eat til 2 but it gives me time to relax and enjoy something fresh I have prepared while watching any trashy reality tv shows I have recorded.  I am a Housewives fanatic. I consider it my lunch break because stay at home moms need a break too!  I also make a to-do list every single day.  I make it at night before I go to bed and this makes me so much more productive the next day.  Oh and I love me a big tall glass of wine at night, helps me unwind and relax after a long day.

Your blog, designer bags and dirty diapers is adorable!  Your recipes are amazing and perfect for moms like me who need quick and delicious meals for weeknights! You also have amazing style, so I LOVE your fashion advice. But I also just love that you talk about life. What was your inspiration behind starting your blog?

First of all thanks for the sweet comment, it makes me so happy when people enjoy reading my blog.  I started my blog in 2010 a few months after my son was born.  I was just laid off from work and trying to figure out this new motherhood thing and wanted a creative outlet to express myself.  I knew I didn’t want my blog just to be about one topic, I have so many different interests.  I wanted to cover everything from family, fashion to food because that is what inspires me.  I look forward to writing my blog everyday because I am writing about things that I am passionate about.

You’ve been blogging for a few years now, any advice for new bloggers or women who want to start blogging?

Definitely follow your heart and start a blog even if you are clueless about how to begin.  I am a true idiot with computers and never thought I would be able to figure out this blogging thing,  but I did and it was easy.  Also follow your own voice.  Write about what inspires you and makes you happy.   Don’t ever write about something just because everyone is.  My blog is all over the place most days, but that is just like me and it’s my own creative outlet.  I am just flattered people want to read what I write!  I also recommend  starting relationships with other bloggers.  Leave comments on their blogs or shoot them an email.  It will help you feel a part of the community.  I have made some very special friends thru the blog world!  And have fun!  That’s the most important part of blogging.

What’s next for Natalie?

Great question!  And who ever really knows??  I am hoping to expand my blog and start offering Styling Services.  I have just started working with a few readers helping them select outfits for special occasions and/or just daily life and I love doing that.  I get such a thrill out of helping other people and especially helping people find great bargain pieces to add to their wardrobes.   So if anybody needs wardrobe or closet help, shoot me an email at nataliemason24@yahoo.com!

Sweet. Southern. Bombshell. Those were my first thoughts when we all were first introduced to Kacie back on Ben’s season of the Bachelor.  And I think I nailed it! She was one of the sweetest girls on the show and it just may have been her sweet southern draw that instantly made me love her! I mean, don’t we all want to be her best friend?

Since the show, Kacie has been on the hunt to start fresh and build a career for herself in Nashville. Her new home with new beginnings. I wish Kacie nothing but the best on her new journey and I’m so thankful for this interview! THANK YOU Kacie. :) I hope y’all find it as wonderful as I do!

What are your everyday cheapies, products that we can buy at the drugstore that you use on a frequent basis?

Oh goodness! What would I do without these!? I use Pantene Pro V Beautiful Lengths Shampoo and Conditioner and Men’s Schick 3 disposable razors, and Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express Mascara! I also love ELF Drama Eyelashes, NEVER leave home without them!

What make up products do you use for your everyday look?

It takes a lot of work :) but I use Amazing Cosmetics concealer in tan, MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC40, Mally Blush in Pink Nectar (my absolute FAVE) and Too Faced Bronzer in Sun Bunny!!! They all seem to stay on great and cover up any imperfections!

Ok, so you live in Tennessee and I know the humidity is horrible there, too.  How do you combat frizz?

Lord have mercy, do we ever have some serious humidity! But to help tame my mane I use Suave Keratin Leave-in conditioner and Biosilk smoothing balm!  Those are my life savers for sure because we’ve all seen what can happen when humidity gets to my hair…Thank you Belize!

For Kacie’s Step by Step Taming the Mane Routine, check out this post by The Over-Analyst aka Jenna Burke!

What are some beauty/make up splurges that you know are expensive but SO worth it?

I’m going to say a good straightner is worth it and also the Bombshell curing wand and you always have to have a good base on your face so concealer and foundation are a must!

What’s your fave new beauty product/hair discovery?

I’m loving my Rodan and Fields ANTI-AGE Multi-Function Eye Cream.

What are your go to hair products?

I love Pantene ProV Shampoo and Conditioner and to top it off I love the BioSilk smoothing products!

What’s your signature scent(s)?

For daytime it’s Incanto Shine by Salvatore Ferragamo for Women and for night Hot Roll-On Eau De Parfum by I am.  Sometimes I like to switch it up… but I love my scents!!

What skincare products do you currently use and swear by?

I swear by Rodan and Fields anti-age and reverse regimen!

Do you get any awesome goodies as part of being on The Bachelor? I know that most of you wore Ritzy Misfit, which are SUPER cute.

We do get some awesome goodies! We had some Wildfox tops, CCSky jewelry, Rich & Skinny jeans, the Bombshell curling wand, and some other awesome stuff.  My favorite was the Mally Make up!

I just love your fashion because it’s everyday and comfy yet stylish.  What are your fave stores? Do you feel like your style has changed at all since the show having lived with all the other girls and their style influences?

Well thank you so much! I always like to dress for the occasion, and one of my favorite ways to shop for fall and winter is to try something on and ask “Do you want to hug me in this?” lol! But I must say since the show, I think I’ve stayed the same, I just dress how I feel that day.  Today is a shorts, boots, and scarf day, yesterday was a business casual dress, and who knows what tomorrow will be! I do like to be whimsical as well! I have no distinct style I guess :)

I know that your diet, being Gluten Free, and your fitness are super important to you.  When did you start eating Gluten Free and what prompted it? What benefits have you felt/seen since you changed your lifestyle?

I’ve been GF for the past 2 years now. I was training for a marathon and had increased wheat carbs in my diet and became very sluggish and bloated, that’s when I discovered I had a gluten allergy. Within 2 weeks of cutting it out of my diet I was a whole new person!  I feel much more energetic, clear headed, and over all like a whole new person.  If you think you might have an allergy to it, do some research and talk to your doctor, there’s no reason to live sick!

Do you still keep in touch with any of the girls? Who are you closest to?

I do keep in touch with some of the girls! I always say some of my best friends and I dated the same guy! LOL! Monica was just in town this past weekend and I also keep in touch with Jacyln (thank goodness she’s been done filming bach pad… I was having withdraws!), Jenna, Emily, and Samantha!

What’s next for Kacie?

Well, I just moved to Nashville and am working in sales (and many other things) for textLIVING.com.  I’m so happy to be in a new city with amazing friends and close to my family.  Honestly, I don’t know what God has in store for me, but I can’t wait to follow his lead!

Honestly, I don’t remember much from Jake’s Season of the Bachelor, but what I do vividly remember is Tenley’s hometown date and her dancing. She looked so peaceful and free. Just gorgeous. Since that moment, Tenley’s life has never been the same. She was able to successfully diagnose her gluten struggles, turning her health around. She met the man of her dreams on Bachelor Pad, Kiptyn.  The best part? She’s paying it forward to all of you currently struggling with celiac disease through her new website and educating herself on nutrition so YOU don’t have to suffer like she did for 24 years.

She’s such a sweetheart and her story is truly inspiring. Thank you so much for this interview Tenley! I am excited about your future and the future of everyone you touch through your journey in life. Hope y’all enjoy a glimpse into Tenley’s Sweet Life! ;)

What are your everyday cheapies, products that we can buy at the drugstore that you use on a frequent basis?

I am pretty “cheap” when it comes to beauty products! ;) I use oil of olay for my moisturizer! My mom is in her 50’s and you would NEVER know it, it may be genes, but I know her one main beauty regiment her whole life has been Oil of Olay… so I hope I got her genes and that it works like magic for me as well! I even use it as my eye makeup remover.

My other “steal” from the drugstore or Target is my bronzer. My favorite bronzer, over all the “fancy pants” ones is the brand NYC. It’s my special secret…well, guess the secret is out now!

I also LOVE almay liquid eyeliner for my upper lid and pen for the lower lid.

My all time favorite mascara is an easy and affordable find too, Loreal voluminous—that stuff works like magic.

What are your go to hair products and styling secrets?

I love Organix shampoo and conditioner! They are gluten free, and I have to be gluten free, so these products are perfect for me. I love the coconut milk one the best! For styling, I’m so plain. I don’t really like using any product for styling, but I do use a hairspray to calm the flyaways and hold the curls. I think I have a Joico styling spray at the moment.

What 3 beauty products are in your handbag right now?

Youngblood Lipstick in Coral Beach (LOVE It) , coconut milk lotion, and I always have some bobby pins and cute headband on hand.

What are some beauty/make up splurges that you know are expensive but SO worth it?

Mac Blush, eyeshadow, and foundation. You’ve probably noticed that I don’t have super bad spending habbits when it comes to beauty products, but these three products I usually have to go to the makeup counters for.

What’s your fave new beauty product/hair discovery?

I have recently started using a Sea Salt Spray for the beachy hair look! It’s easy and perfect for the soCal beach girl look.

I also absolutely love bathing in Coconut Oil – it is the best organic/natural new beauty product I have found. It leaves my skin silky smooth and the amount of nutrients that your skin absorbs is unreal!

What make up products do you use for your everyday look?

NYC Bronzer, Peachy Keen Mac Blush, Loreal Voluminous Mascara

What’s your signature scent(s)?

Tenley

Any skincare products that you swear by?

Oil of Olay, Sunscreen, and coconut oil

Your clothes are adorable, stylish but easy! Are you an in-store shopper or online shopper? What are some of your fave shopping spots?

You’re super sweet, thank you. I’m a very simple shopper and dresser, you got the easy part right. ;) I have a “go to” online boutique I like to shop at for special events or fun items I just “have to have”, ShopModerne. I also love shopping at fun boutiques I find, you can find some great unique items that can make an outfit. Where I find many of my simple token items… good ol’ Forever 21 and Nordstrom.

Your body is phenomenal. What’s a typical week for your fitness routine?

I Love you! ;) Thank you. I danced professionally for many years, so when I started slowing down with that, I started to run for a positive outlet, but now without dance, running is a different thing for me, very therapeutic. I have also fallen in love with Hot Yoga, and love circuit workouts and barre (booty) workouts. The best thing I have ever done for myself was started following a Lifestyle plan, this is what I owe my new passion and love for Nutrition and fitness to! Check it out: Tone it Up!

Your website, Tenley’s Sweet & Free Life, is amazing! I love that you decided to use your own personal battle to promote and help others in your same shoes. AND I love that your GF recipes are simple and not too complicated for everyday meals! How did you finally come to the conclusion that you had a gluten intolerance? What were your symptoms growing up? Do you think there are different levels of intolerance, meaning some people may have severe cases while others are milder?

I’m glad you like my new website, it’s my baby. ;) Great Questions.

I was “sick” my whole life, in so much pain (mainly stomach/digestive issues) and saw plenty of doctors, visited the ER a few times, and had several tests done. No answers. At age 24 (4 years ago) I read a book about Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance. One part of the book was focused on mis-diagnosis and several people living undiagnosed… I was one of these people. Unfortunately, there isn’t money for research at this time, because there is no money for pharmaceutical research to make, because as of now, the only “cure” is changing your lifestyle and going gluten free.  Because there isn’t any money in the research doctors aren’t focusing on learning about this, some are doing it on their own, but mine had not, this is where I went undiagnosed. Once I read this book, and learned more, I had every single symptom. I decided to cut out gluten myself, voila! That was the answer. Never in my life had I known or thought that I could live not feeling sick. Now I do. It’s the best thing ever.

I’ll spare you the details of symptoms, but like I mentioned before… stomach/digestive issues. I was also very ill all the time, as my immune system was shot because I lived malnourished (because I was poisoning myself every time I ate), being malnourished made my body have to work a lot harder.

Celiac Disease is SEVERE, it’s an autoimmune disease, and if you even have the slightest bit of gluten (it’s a tiny particle), you’re toast, but you’re also breaking your body down along the way. So someone with celiac has to be extra careful because not only will they become sick, but they’re also putting their bodies/life in danger in the long run. Someone with a gluten intolerance needs to be treated with just as much caution and care, for similar reasons… anytime you “poison” your body, you’re breaking your body down. Something that I want to bring to people’s attention is, there is no such thing as being “half gluten-free”. Once the gluten is in your system (even just a particle) you will react with symptoms you’re trying to avoid (bloating, swelling, illness, stomach issues, headaches, rashes).

I think it’s safe to say that we are ALL huge supporters of you and Kiptyn. When are you guys going to make it official and get engaged already?!?!

Haha, wouldn’t I like to know! ;) It’s up to the man. We talk about it, and obviously we’re heading in that direction or we wouldn’t still be dating two years later. We are enjoying our time, we’re not in a rush. I know we come from the Bachelor Franchise, so people expected a quick engagement, but we’re not doing this for anybody else we’re together for us.

ABC is in the midst of choosing their next Bachelor…..Who are you rooting for?

I thought Arie would have made a great Bachelor, but he just announced it will not be him. And our buddy Roberto took himself out of the running (so much respect for that man), so it looks like it may be down to Sean. I think he will be a classy guy, but my fear is that his heart will be taken advantage of. I hope they find him some “good girls”. My one piece of advice is, don’t get engaged on the show! Get to know one another outside of cameras and the pressure, it will make a difference in the track record.

What’s next for Tenley?

I’ve been a busy lady and grateful for all that has been on my plate. I’ve been the Editor-In-Chief of Fashion 5.0, a fashion magazine based out of San Diego, and that has been a fun adventure. But Sweet & Free Life (www.sweetandfreelife.com) is my baby these days, I have some big plans to come with this brand and website. I hope to help many people find the answers to a life free of pain, but I also hope to help guide others to the things I love so much that make my life so sweet! I’m currently working on several projects on the side that will reflect the goals of Sweet & Free Life and I cannot wait to share! I’m also starting school, ahhh!! I’m going back to school to get my credentials/certification to be a Hollistic Nutrition/Health Coach. I hope that this will be used as an extension of what I can offer through my website, but most of all I can’t wait to learn how to help others with their health.
